Ever since David and I got married, we had planned to go camping. We finally went ten years later. We have been slowly saving up our camping supplies through the years. A tent here, some sleeping bags there, a propane stove (which we didn't bring because it is still packed away in a box somewhere). This weekend was free, the weather has been great, so we decided to go. Just one night at first to start off slow. We found a perfect place 70 min from our house. We thought we were all prepared. I put Mara's insulin, needles, etc in a cooler with the food. I thought I saw David taking it to the car. we got down there set up the tent, were about to start the fire to roast the hot dogs....when I asked David....where is the cooler I can't find it in the car? he
said he didn't pack it, he thought I did it. It was still sitting in our home.
So we are 70 miles from Mara's insulin and dinner. For a type 1 diabetic that is bad We had some nuts and chips. David went back for it, I stayed and fed the kids, nuts and chips. I had some insulin in her blood sugar checker bag with one needle. But we needed more. Anyway, David got back, we had a blast after that. Had hot dogs and s'mores. Told scary stories. The kids didn't get to bed till 11. After the kids went to bed David and I looked at the stars. It was amazing. I have never seen so many stars. We went to bed after that. I was sure glad I brought my blow up mattress, especially after laying on the hard ground with Ashlee trying to get her to sleep. Then Ashlee woke up at 6 am and Mara soon after. So they were tired today. But it was fun. I really like our tent, it sleeps 8 and has 3 separate little rooms. We got it at a day after thanksgiving sale 4 years ago.

Here is Mara and Ashlee enjoying see the sun rising. David took this picture, I was asleep still.

After the sun rose a little higher in the sky we all enjoyed a hike by the lake.

We are looking forward to doing it again, hopefully we will be more prepared too,
